Grin And Bear It
It’s a phrase I’ll often repeat to myself… It seems more and more lately, my weeks are filled with constant work, and endless of things I need to get done.
The only consolation I have is the knowledge that I can just bear with it for a week and things will be better. This is usually the case, but lately it’s just another week of the same old anti-social procrastination and attempts at getting things done. It always happens this time of the year.
I can only hope that this period of “grin and bear it” doesn’t extend much past the short-term future. I’ll be screwed if my whole life turns into that!

In all of this, it is the spirit that matters. Our Scout law and Promise, when we really put them into practice, take away all occasion for wars and strife among nations.

Woke up this morning to CBC Radio 2, and this song was playing. It gave me enough energy to 1. get up, and 2. immediately lyric-search and download it. Enjoy :)

Success
Do you ever think you might be scared of success? I think I am.
I think I run from those things which lead to long-term success.
I think I put myself in situations I know will end, and be painful.
Do I mimic the temporality of life?
I know what I need to do to achieve what I want, but what am I willing to comprimise to achieve it?
Are these things simply not who I am, or do I pretend they aren’t for fear of what may come.
But, you only live once, so I guess I’ll dive in head first with no turning back.

The controversial anti-gay Westboro Baptist Church showed up to protest in front of Twitter’s San Francisco office on Thursday, but found themselves severely outnumbered by a crowd of anti-protesters, including a group of people who rick-rolled them.

Getting To Alert
For the first time in my life tonight, I’ve pondered this strange question… How exactly does one get to Alert, Nunavut (the most northernly permanently inhabited place in the world)?
I’ve always wanted to travel to places that few others have gone; you know, like Antarctica, Svalbard, Alert, Siberia, and random islands scattered throughout the oceans. There’s something about seeing something that only a priveleged few have been lucky enough to see.
As part of this quest, I decided to do some Google research tonight to see if it is actually possible to go to Alert as a Civilian (it’s a military airport and establishment). Apparently you can go there if you get a contract from the DND, but other than that you’d have to charter a flight, or dog sled across hundreds of kilometres to get there. Apparently there’s a cargo ship that goes there in the summer months, but that’s a whole other issue.
Am I crazy?

Gonna give this Tumblr thing a try, in fact it’s revived an interest in photography for me. Problem is, I want a good camera, and they don’t come cheap. I might steal my dad’s old film SLR, but Ideally I’d like a Digital. Anyone wanna buy me one :P?
